Supporting Small Businesses, One Sale at a Time!

About Qarakata

Community. Culture. Commerce.

Qáràkátà (pronounced ka-ra-ka-ta) is derived from the Yoruba phrase meaning “Buy and Sell.” The concept was born during the pandemic — a time when many minority communities struggled to access reliable outlets to buy essential supplies. Small businesses were present. Talent was present. Demand was present. But structured access was not.

What started as a community-driven solution has evolved into a structured multi-vendor marketplace and event platform — connecting buyers and sellers locally and globally.

Our Purpose

Qáràkátà exists to empower small and independent businesses through structured commerce. We believe access creates opportunity, visibility builds confidence, structure drives sustainability, and community strengthens commerce.

Our mission is to provide a trusted, professional platform where entrepreneurs can grow their businesses while serving their communities.

  • Access that opens doors
  • Visibility that builds trust
  • Structure that supports growth
  • Community that sustains momentum

What We Do

Qáràkátà operates as a hybrid commerce ecosystem designed to support vendors and create discovery for shoppers.

🛒 Online Marketplace

A multi-vendor eCommerce platform where sellers can showcase and sell unique products to a wider audience.

🏪 Community Market Fairs

Quarterly in-person events bringing independent brands and shoppers together in a trusted community venue.

🤝 Vendor Enablement

Structured onboarding, policy frameworks, and visibility initiatives designed to help vendors grow sustainably.

What Makes Qáràkátà Different

Unlike generic marketplaces, Qáràkátà is intentional about quality, balance, and long-term impact — not just transactions.

  • Curated vendor selection (quality over quantity)
  • Balanced product categories
  • Community-rooted commerce and cultural inclusivity
  • Professional governance and structure
  • Transparent policies and standards

Who We Serve

Qáràkátà supports independent brands, minority-owned businesses, startups, growing SMEs, artisans, makers, and culturally inspired entrepreneurs — as well as shoppers who value unique products and community-led commerce.

Whether you are launching your first product or expanding your brand, Qarakata provides a platform designed for sustainable growth.

A Note From The Founder

Qáràkátà began with a simple desire — to create space for people to thrive.

I have spent over 20 years working in eCommerce, digital product, and technology, leading initiatives with organisations including Toyota Financial Services and Ford Motor Company. My work has always focused on building structured platforms that create sustainable growth.

But my belief in entrepreneurship started much earlier. I was raised by a mother who was a pillar of her community — someone who believed deeply in supporting others through commerce and connection. That foundation shaped everything.

During the pandemic, I saw how many minority-owned businesses struggled to access reliable outlets to buy and sell even basic supplies. It became clear that access — not talent — was the barrier. Qarakata was created to bridge that gap.

Today, it stands as both a marketplace and a growing network of sellers, built on structure, trust, and community.
