Qarakata (pronounced ka ra ka ta) is taken from a Yoruba word that means "buy and sell”. It is a product of Netzalive Ltd.
The company was founded in 2018 but our eCommerce platform is the result of 20 years eCommerce and Software development experience, augmented with continuous research and development.

Background Story..
During the first lockdown brought on by Covid-19 in April, the BAME Community was hard hit because of the difficulty in getting items they were used to from the small shops and businesses that catered for them.
We experienced that first hand travelling between the UK and Ireland and talking to businesses that had to shut down because they could not make their supply chain work for them.
Both consumers and sellers experienced this negative effect of the lock down and it was obvious that big main stream stores were not catering to the needs of this community.
There was also the health and safety considerations of venturing outside and staying on long queues to get the basic needs - which in some cases were no longer available.
The businesses we talked to could not afford to launch an Online platform with full marketing and fulfilment system to back it up.
Consumers also would like to be able to access basic groceries and essentials from the comfort of their own homes. They also want the ability to "shop around" for the best deals.
We thought about the Afro Caribbean traditional markets where you can get a bit of everything - meat, food, clothing, accessories - all in one space, ran by an eclectic array of boisterous market sellers. We started looking into a virtual representation of such.
And that was how Qarakata started....
